'World's biggest pharmacy' may have short shelf-life

I will be traveling to Chiapas, MX in two weeks to help the indigenous people find new ways to improve their economic plight. The area is very fertile and diverse in plant life and species and I would be interested in talking with this company to know how to make the connection.

I'm Zoe, Chris' wife. This expedition was tough. The area of the Amazon we were staying in was nothing short of devastated—stripped down to mostly high grass teaming with poisonous snakes. There was almost no jungle left at all. Most people find it hard to believe that the deforestation is this omnipresent, this hostile, and this aggressive, but it is. I wouldn't have believed it either, but as we rode about the rivers we witnessed one after another huge logging barge making its way down river to lumber yards, over-laden with logs from majestic giant trees and dragging many more behind them in the water. I hope the people of the world wake up in time. This is not OK. We will be sorry when the rainforests are gone. It isn't just that we NEED them (which we do) it is because they are a one of nature's most extraordinary masterpieces, and because they are home to beautiful, special peoples, and to wildlife that once thrived but now struggles to survive. Be a conscious consumer. Ask about the wood you buy before you buy it. Your purchases matter because in economics, the basics rules of supply and demand still apply. Peace, Zoe

Medicine Hunter Chris Kilham continues to do important work for the planet. I hope many see this excellent story on NBC Nightly News and spread the word. Kilham is proof that a single individual can make a huge difference in helping people in distant lands. But the effect spreads everywhere--like the rings created when you throw a pebble in a pond. Thank you Chris, and thank you NBC!

In significant portions of the Amazon, oil companies have poisoned rivers and assaulted the health of its indigenous people. Why not protect and sustainably harvest the natural plants that heal us, rather than sacrifice for oil and deforestation these irreplaceable resources? Good work, Chris Kilham! We want to hear more about your efforts.

This is a very important story. Please keep covering alternative medicines and the environment. Follow the work of Chris Kilham. Nobody else is doing the work that Chris does.

There is someone else doing this work: John Easterling, of Amazon Herbs. With just under three decades of experience traveling to the jungles and highlands of the Amazon, "Amazon John" has developed long-lasting relationships with Indigenous communities, offering them greater choices in managing their land, their resources and their culture. He created new processing techniques to maintain the purity of the herbs and markets them without fillers, something unheard of in the industry. Take a look.

Hello, Sunny. Do you work for Amazon John's network marketing group? We are aware of his work in the Amazon. Chris' work takes him all around the world. This isn't just about the Amazon, although the Amazon is surely in need of as many eco-warriors as pos. Peace, ZOE

I really enjoyed this piece. In a world where indigenous peoples are being exploited left and right, it is refreshing to hear about someone who is trying to bring economic benefits to poor communities without damaging their environment or culture.

These news pieces are incredibly valuable. It would be nice to see information about plants being sourced from around the world for the dietary supplement & cosmetic industries on a regular basis.

I am very grateful this aired! I sincerely hope that more of this can be shown, learned and presented to people! Being very involved myself in the Amazon and the Indigenous people I am continuely humbled by the treasure that are there that no one knows about both in natural medicines and cultures! Thanks Chris Kilham and thanks MSNBC for airing it!
