More military deaths and struggling families. I would like to see you do a segment on the children of these soldiers, deployed time and again, or moved from base to base. My daughter teaches at Evergreen Elementary on the Ft. Lewis base. She loves her job and the kids that have touched her life there. Trying to meet education standards is often a challenge. Classrooms often seem to have a revolving door, with as many as 50% of the children sometimes changing schools within a year. Often the teachers are the only stability the kids know. Lots of tears, interesting drawings and acting out, and lots of lagging behind grade level due to their often emotional lives. They are also casualties of these wars we are engulfed in.
Not a good place to leave a comment like you did Yachats. Did you hear the news the man was saying? Yes, we care about the kids with their mom's or dad's deploying year after year like my son's dad. No, you don't get 'used' to it but you do adapt. You are wrong about the teachers being the only stability the kids know. You might be surprised to hear this but military spouses left behind are strong and we all do what we can for our children to make their lives more stable. Just like being an only parent (again) if you like it or not. My son changed schools 4 times in one year but he is fine. Schools do have a revolving door to military. Maybe you should point out the teachers with no compassion to military kids and their struggles. Maybe you should point out the protesting on the corners against the war that the kids see. The story above that you should be responding to is about us losing more soldiers and how many we have lost in such a short time in this deployment cycle.
